Vadodara's worst-ever floods: Crocodiles enter colonies as Vishwamitri river swells

Vishwamitri floods: Residents claimed that hundreds of people living in flooded area were forced to stay indoors and their parking areas are under 6 feet of water, damaging their parked vehicles.

Gujarat's Vadodara district is coping with its worst-ever floods in recent history after the

flooding of Vishwamitri river.

Locals are sharing visuals of crocodiles entering the city's flooded colonies on X as the river is flowing 9 feet above the danger mark and there's no sign of retreat.

"Vadodara is facing a double threat with both floods and crocodile sightings. As the Vishwamitri River overflows, crocodiles are seen venturing into various human settlements across the city," an X user posted.

More than 3,000 people living in low-lying areas in and around Vadodara were shifted to safer places after the Vishwamitri river, which flows through heart of the city, crossed the danger mark of 25 feet on Tuesday morning. The river is currently flowing 9 feet above the danger mark, abover 34 feet.

As per the State Emergency Operations Centre, Vadodara city received 307 mm of rainfall between 6 am and 12 am on Monday, which resulted in waterlogging in many areas. The rains have stopped since then.
