India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 is set to open with a sweeping vision of the country’s digital future, unveiling more than 1,600 technology use cases spanning 5G, 6G, AI, machine learning, IoT, cybersecurity and satellite communications. The event will also host six flagship summits, making it Asia’s largest showcase of next-generation connectivity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said on October 6 ahead of the ninth edition of the IMC.

The IMC will take place from October 8 to October 11 at Yashobhoomi’s 4.5 lakh sq. ft. venue, featuring 400 exhibitors, 7,000 delegates from 150 countries and nearly 150,000 visitors. Scindia said the scale of participation marks a transition from India Mobile Congress to Asia Mobile Congress.

“Telecommunications is not just a highway, but a pathway to new technologies,” the minister said, noting that 5G and beyond will “supplant applications that serve not only Indian citizens but also connect the world with our country and vice versa.”

At the heart of IMC 2025 are six major global events that aim to shape the agenda for the next decade of digital innovation. The centrepiece is the International Bharat 6G Symposium, which will bring global experts together to debate standards and protocols for next-generation networks. The Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA), launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022, will play a key role at the symposium. “The world is now looking beyond 5G towards 6G, and India, through the B6GA, is an early mover in that process,” Scindia said.

The International AI Summit will highlight India’s growing role in artificial intelligence and showcase its integration across industries, while the Cyber Security Summit will focus on protecting the digital infrastructure of a country with 1.2 billion telecom subscribers. Organisers emphasised that “as important as it is to provide services, it is equally important to ensure the safety and well-being of our 1.2 billion customers.”

India will also spotlight its satellite communications ambitions at the Satcom Summit, a sector gaining momentum with three licences already issued. The summit will examine regulatory frameworks, new services, and international partnerships.

Adding to the innovation ecosystem, the IMC Aspire Program has been designed as what Scindia described as a “marriage aggregator between startups and capital.” It will bring together 500 startups and 300 venture capitalists, private equity investors and bankers to boost funding and entrepreneurial growth.

Finally, IMC 2025 will host the Global Startup World Cup – India Chapter. For the first time, India will be part of this global competition, with 15 finalists vying for a place at the international finals and a chance to secure a $1 million investment prize.

Alongside these summits, organisers underscored India’s standing as a digital powerhouse. The country accounts for 20% of the world’s mobile subscribers, with 1.2 billion connections, and has 970 million internet users. They also highlighted that India achieved the fastest 5G rollout globally, completing it in just 22 months.

“If you categorise the world in terms of digital nations, India would be the third largest in terms of internet users,” the minister said.
He stressed that Prime Minister Modi had “foreseen the critical role that this telecommunication highway would pave for a new India to rise—an India that is self-reliant, swadeshi and shashakt, and an India on which the world’s progress can rely.” The vision, he added, is clear: “Design in India, Solve in India, Scale in India.” With IMC 2025, India seeks to demonstrate that it is a “reservoir of technology, reservoir of talent, and reservoir of opportunity for the world.”
