The BCCI on Friday announced the squad for the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The five-match Test series starts from November 22 in Perth. Mohammed Shami, who was running a race against time to get fit for the Australia tour, was not named in the squad. Shami has been out of action since the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup due to an ankle injury. A fresh swelling on his knees has added to his trouble.

Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana are the two other seamers in the squad apart from regulars Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep. This is Harshit's maiden Test call-up and apart from him fast-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has also been named in the list of players flying to Down Under.

The BCCI in it's release also mentioned that Kuldeep Yadav was unavailable for selection. The spinner "has been referred to the BCCI Centre of Excellence after the end of the ongoing Test series against New Zealand for long term resolution of his chronic left groin issue."

Meanwhile, pacers Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini, and Khaleel Ahmed will travel with the squad as reserves.
