Days after requesting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Mumbai Cricket Association, which has been granted, out of favour batter Prithvi Shaw has opened about his downfall in cricket. Once compared with arguably the greatest cricketing talent - Sachin Tendulkar - the country has ever produced, Shaw is no longer in the cricketing scenario at the moment.
However, Shaw in a recent interview to News24 remarked: "I am on track now. I have gone back to basics now. The hard work I used to do five years ago, I think I have started that routine again. I believe in myself. I don't know how many people believe in me or not. But I believe in myself. I know how to get there. That's why I am doing all this."
And now in another interview with Dainik Jagran, Shaw drew an interesting analogy between him and popular TV soap character Jethalal from the series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma. Shaw made the interesting comparison on being asked his infamous history loaded with controversy one after the other.
“Nothing like this has happened for a long time, but one thing I would like to say is that controversies catch me. I am Jethalal of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,” he was quoted as saying by the Hindi national daily.
To add some context to his statement, Jethalal is a popular TV character and social media is loaded with memes revolving around his character, which is played by Dilip Joshi. The show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma primarily revolves around his character.
Prithvi Shaw was not included in Mumbai's Vijay Hazare Trophy team, and he was also left out of playing XI for the Ranji Trophy. That was not the end of Shaw's misery as he went unsold at the high octane IPL mega auction held last year at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has represented India in five Test matches, six ODIs, and one T20I.
