Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath, on Monday, revealed that he had a ‘mild stroke’ around six weeks ago. In a viral post on X, Kamath shared the possible reasons behind the same and also gave updates on his health. His post received an outpouring of support and several people, including Ashneer Grover, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Deepak Shenoy and Nilesh Sah, wished him a speedy recovery.
Now, a doctor weighed in on Kamath’s ‘mild stroke’ and lauded the CEO for correctly identifying the possible reasons of the health emergency. Sudhir Kumar, a neurologist at Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad, added to the causes listed by Kamath in a post on X.
Very useful advice from @Nithin0dha. At age 44, one of the fittest persons, Mr Nithin Kamath suffered a minor stroke, but glad to note that he is making a swift recovery, and I wish him a superfast and complete recovery," Kumar wrote.
The possible reasons according to Kumar included Kamath's stress after losing his father, sleep deprivation, over-exercising, exhaustion and dehydration.
"So, it is important to exercise in moderation (and not over-exercise), ensure adequate sleep and cut down on work (if one is over-working). Exercising and being fit is good, as has been proved by Nithin Kamath. Despite suffering from stroke, it was a milder one, and he is on the road towards complete recovery," Kumar wrote further.

While replying to a user's comment, the doctor even tried to guess the type of stroke that Kamath suffered according to the symptoms he mentioned.
"Details are unknown to me. Brain stroke, possibly due to blockage of blood supply to left side of brain (a guess, based on the symptoms reported by Mr Nithin Kamath)," he wrote.
Meanwhile, Kamath informed his well-wishers that he was on the road to recovery and has already started to increase his treadmill count. In the aftermath of the stroke, he suffered from a big droop on his face and was unable to read or write. Now, there’s a slight droop but he is being able to read and write more.
“From being absent-minded to more present-minded. So, 3 to 6 months for full recovery,” he wrote in the post.
The 44-year-old has been an advocate and for fitness and health and has been quite vocal about his journey as well. He had once revealed that his body fat percentage was at 14.3%.
