The Cannes Film Festival is regarded by the cinephile and film community as a place of worship (not literally). Every year thousands of filmmakers gather at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès and showcase their brilliance and artistic creativity in the field of cinema. It is deemed as the world’s most prestigious film gathering while also being the most widely publicised cultural event. With the 77th edition just around the corner, here’s what you need to know about streaming the event, if you aren’t lucky enough to witness it yourself.

Date and Venue of the Cannes

The 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival has been scheduled to take place from May 14-25 of this year, at the Martin Scorsese’s baptised building, Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, in Cannes, France. The inaugural is scheduled for May 14, tomorrow, with the opening film, “The Second Act” directed by Quentin Dupieux.

Marking the first Indian film to contend for the esteemed Palm d’Or in 30 years, Payal Kapdia’s “All We Imagine As Light” will be competing against Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis”, Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Kinds Of Kindness”, Paul Schrader’s “Oh, Canada”, and more.
