As the clock ticks down to the grand release of Coolie, arguably the most anticipated film of the year, excitement among Rajinikanth’s loyal followers has reached fever pitch. Across India, his ardent admirers are sparing no effort to mark the occasion—organising jubilant celebrations in cinemas and performing elaborate temple rituals to invoke blessings for the film’s success.
Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, celebrated for works such as Maanagaram, Vikram, and Leo, the film has been the talk of the industry for months.
In the final hours before its debut, devoted fans gathered at the Veyilukandha Amman Temple in Thiruparankunram, Tamil Nadu, to perform age-old traditions in honour of their cinematic idol. Prayers were offered with deep reverence, but it was the more distinctive rituals that caught attention.

Three fans were observed partaking in Mansoru, a practice in which food is eaten directly from the floor—a symbolic act of humility and devotion common in Tamil Nadu. Others engaged in Angapradakshanam, an intense ritual involving rolling one’s body around the temple premises as an expression of faith and dedication.
These displays of devotion were accompanied by charitable acts, with Rajinikanth’s admirers distributing food to fellow devotees. Such gestures underline the unique relationship between the superstar and his fan base, one that transcends mere celebrity and borders on the spiritual.
For them, each Rajinikanth release is more than just a film—it is an event of cultural and emotional significance.
Coolie boasts a powerhouse ensemble cast alongside Rajinikanth, including Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj. Adding to its allure, Pooja Hegde makes a special appearance in a song sequence.

Backed by Sun Pictures and featuring a soundtrack composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the film has secured an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, hinting at intense action and mature themes.
The film is scheduled for a spectacular theatrical premiere on 14 August, strategically placed just ahead of the Independence Day holiday, ensuring a long opening weekend. However, it enters cinemas amidst a major box office showdown, going head-to-head with Yash Raj Films’ War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR—a clash certain to capture the attention of audiences nationwide.
For Rajinikanth’s fans, however, the competition matters little. Their celebrations, prayers, and unwavering loyalty are already in full swing, marking the arrival of Thalaivar’s latest cinematic chapter as nothing short of a festival.
