Abhishek Bachchan talks about movie choices

Actor Abhishek Bachchan, known for his diverse roles in Bollywood, recently opened up about how becoming a father has impacted his professional decisions and outlook on work.

While promoting his film Be Happy, Abhishek Bachchan in a conversation with The Quint talked about how fatherhood has brought about a significant shift in how he approaches his career, particularly when it comes to the types of roles he takes on.

When asked about whether he evaluates a film before choosing it, Abhishek replied, "The one thing I am never going to do is evaluate my films, the minute you start evaluating an emotion, you are done." He went on to say, "You hear the story, did it touch you? Yeah, go for it, it has to be an emotional response."

However, he also acknowledged that there are certain elements he is uncomfortable with. "Maybe if there is something that is sexually explicit, I am very uncomfortable with that, I don’t like showing all of that on screen, even if I am watching a show alone and something very sexually explicit comes on, mujhe thoda ajeeb lagta hai."

Bachchan further shared that his fatherhood journey has deepened his sense of responsibility when choosing roles. "I have always said, since I became a girl dad, I only want to make films which I can watch with my daughter. I am not saying it for principle, I don’t know how she would possibly see and be like, 'What’s he doing?' So, I'd like to consider that."

Abhishek Bachchan's current film, Be Happy, directed by Remo D'souza, is a dance-drama that tells the story of a single father and his clever, mature daughter.
