Scope of certain existing services is being clarified  or extended as follows: Service Tax Rate
Transfer of money through different modes by any person 12%
Services provided as banker to an issue 12%
Management consultancy service to specifically include consultancy in different areas of management 12%
General insurance service, to include service provided to a policy-holder or any person by an insurer-including a re-insurer 12%
Life insurance service,  to include service provided to a policy-holder or any person by an insurer-including a re-insurer 12%
Insurance auxiliary service concerning general insurance business; to include service provided to a policy-holder 12%
Insurance auxiliary service concerning life insurance business to include service to a policy-holder or any person 12%
Maintenance or repair service to be renamed as “management, maintenance or repair” service, and to include management of movable property 12%
Erection, commissioning or installation service to include  erection, commissioning or installation of structures – whether or not pre-fabricated 12%
Consulting engineer service to include engineering consultancy services provided by any firm or body corporate 12%
Business auxiliary service to include computerized data processing 12%
Technical testing and analysis services 12%
Event management: So fashion shows, award shows, music festivals, auctions etc all have to pay more tax 12%
Taking cruises will get expensive and so will flying abroad on vacation either by club class or business class. 12%
Extravagant marriages will attract the income tax department's attention. 12%
TV channels/broadcasters also will have to bear this brunt, which may be passed on to you by your local cable operator. 12%
Other things that will attract a service tax are credit cards, debit cards, dry cleaners, ATMs (here it's more about maintenance of ATMs, but the cash withdrawal tax is still around.) 12%
Services provided by overseas firms will also be taxed - at your end. 12%
