Tata Motors has officially launched the much-anticipated Tata Curvv, offering both electric (EV) and internal combustion engine (ICE) versions of the vehicle. The Tata Curvv EV is introduced with a starting price of Rs 17.50 lakh.

The Tata Curvv EV 45 is priced between Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 19.29 lakh, while the Curvv EV 55 is priced between Rs 19.25 lakh and Rs 21.99 lakh.

The event was kickstarted by Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors, who highlighted the significant strides the company has made in the electric vehicle sector.

Chandra noted that electric vehicles currently account for 12 percent of Tata Motors' sales, a testament to the rapid growth of the company’s EV portfolio, which is already the largest in India. This impressive growth comes just four years after the launch of the Nexon EV.

Alongside the rise of EVs, India’s charger network has expanded exponentially and is projected to double by the end of the decade. The Tata Curvv EV, featuring a 1.2C charging rate, promises a range of 150 km with just 15 minutes of charging. The vehicle is claimed to have a total range of 585 km, with an expected real-world range of 400-425 km.

The Curvv EV offers two battery pack options: a 45 kWh pack with a claimed range of 502 km and a 55 kWh pack with a claimed range of 585 km. In real-world conditions, these provide an estimated range of up to 350 km and 425 km, respectively. Additionally, the Curvv EV includes both vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle functionality, enhancing its versatility.

Safety features of the Curvv EV include six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), all-wheel disc brakes, and acoustic alerts for pedestrian safety. The vehicle is also equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Practical features include a 500-litre boot and a fully usable front trunk (frunk).

The Tata Curvv ICE will offer three engine choices: two petrol and one diesel. The petrol variants include the new Hyperion GDi engine, delivering 125 hp and 225 Nm of torque. The diesel engine will feature a dual-clutch transmission for the first time in Tata’s lineup.

Key specifications for both versions of the Tata Curvv include 18-inch wheels, a ground clearance of 190 mm, and a water-wading depth of 450 mm. The vehicle boasts a balanced 50:50 weight distribution and ample storage space with 500 litres of boot capacity.
